S/390 operating system
All currently marketed VM/ESA, VSE/ESA, and OS/390 operating systems and their
associated S/390 products are available for the IBM S/390 Integrated Server.
For
all System/390 software orders, the distribution is on currently supported media,
including the 4mm DAT tape media (digital audio tape) cartridge for most current
products. (Base VM/ESA is available today on OMA CD-ROM media.)
As part of the S/390 software order, the customer can request the appropriate
preconfigured CD-ROM.The preconfigured CD-ROMs contain S/390 system
images that provide a “load and go” system.Included on the CD-ROMs are I/O
device maps to help the customer get started and a set of unique
tools to take
advantage of the dual operating system environment.The preconfigured CD-ROM
consists of the base operating system and one or more utility programs.
Internet access will be required for service and support, therefore an additional LAN
adapter card or modem will be necessary. The internet connection itself can be
provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
