6.8.4 HET virtual files
6.8.4.1 HET virtual files
HET device statements are used to define HET virtual files to the Hercules configuration. These contain a
complete tape in one file and have the same structure as the AWSTAPE format with the added ability to
have compressed data. The first argument specifies the location of the HET file. The filename must end
with “.HET” to be recognized by Hercules as a HET file (e.g. “023178.HET”). There are several additional
arguments that control various HET settings.
