8. Console Command Descriptions

8.1 !message (SCP priority message)

8.1.1 Function

The “!message” (SCP) command is used to enter a system control program (i.e. guest operating system)
priority command on the hercules console. The command to be issued has to be prefixed with an excla-
mation point '!'.

This command is similar to the “.reply” command. It is up to the operating system to differentiate between
them.

8.1.3 Parameter

prio_msg

The priority message that will be routed to the system control program running un-
der the Hercules Emulator.

8.1.4 Examples

8.2 # (Silent comment)

8.2.1 Function

The hash ("#") provides a convenient way of entering comments into the Hercules log file only with no
other effect (“silent” comment). The comment is not processed in any way other than to echo it in the log
file.

This is the text that has to be written only to the Hercules log file (“silent” comment).
