8.6.1 Function

The asterisk ("*") provides a convenient way of entering comments into the Hercules log file and to the
Hercules console with no other effect (“loud” comment). The comment is not processed in any way other
than to echo it in the log file and at the console.

8.7 .reply (SCP command)

8.7.1 Function

The “.reply” (SCP) command is used to give a reply to a system control program (i.e. the guest operating
system running under Hercules) message. To reply to a SCP message that gets issued to the Hercules
console, prefix the reply with a period (dot).
