8.21 CACHE (Execute cache related commands)

8.21.1 Function

The CACHE command is used to execute various cache related commands. It allows to switch on or off
the caching for the DASD system and to display the status of the system DASD caching. Given without
an argument the CACHE command displays the cache statistics (see also CACHESTATS command).

DASD SYSTEM

Displays the status of the DASD system caching if given without an additional argu-
ment, otherwise enables or disables the caching for all DASD devices.

ON

Enables the caching for all DASD devices.

OFF

Disables the caching for all DASD devices.
