characters, but the first character must be alphabetic or
national. If a number nn is specified, it is translated to aFORTRAN data definition name of FTnnF001. An asterisk (*) may
be specified with theCLEAR operand to indicate that all file
definitions not entered with thePERM option should be
cleared.
