Appendix E: Compatibility of VM/370 with
CP-67/CMS and its components, the control program (CP) and the
ConversationalSystem (CMS), are based on the system,
and are designed especially for theIBM System/310. The Dynamic
Translation Facility on theSystem/310 provides the same facilities as
did Dynamic Address Translation (DAT) on theSystem/360 61, but
differs in hardware design details and software implementation.
Consequently, the system does not run on a System/310, and the VM/370 system does not run on the System/360 Model 67. The internal
control block structure differs between the two systems, and user
modifications to theCP-61/CMS system may no longer be necessary, or usable in the new system without some redesign effort. Certain commands familiar to CP-61 users are not supported in The functions available under CP-61 do, however, have equivalents in where appropriate. The following is a list of all CP-61 console
functions, with operand variations, showing the incompatibilities withVM/3 7 0. Functions listed under CP-67 Version 3.1 and not under indicate that the syntax and function are identical. There are, of
course, additional functions available with theVM/370 commands. The CP and CMS commands are described in the VM/310 Use!:§ and the VM/310 CPI§. Command Mac!:Q In Figure 42, the letter in the "status" column has the following
meanings:
A indicatesCP-67 syntax accepted in VM/310 R indicates CP-61 syntax not accepted but the function is
supported by a differentVPI/370 command
N indicatesCP-61 syntax not accepted and the function is not
supported inVM/310. Whenever an R
appears in the"status" column, the VM/310 command that
provides the same function as a formerCP-61 command is shown in the Equivalent" column.
